Nothing Major, Nothing Minor

Ever had such a horrible day that you think nothing else could go wrong yet it still does? Yes that was the kind of day I was having last week. My 4:30am alarm didn't go off so I missed out on my morning run. Eventually waking up not only was I running late for work but I had forgotten to pack my lunch and left my wallet at home. Obviously this had set the tone for my day and had put me in a foul mood.

Work was okay but as we all know when we are in a negative mood everything seems extremely irritating. I was hungry, angry and really hating life at that moment in time (Yes I may be a drama queen but hey I'm a twenty-one year old young lady trying to figure out life) LOL ! Anywho after work as I got home my grandma phoned me and asked me to come over for dinner. So off I went to my grandparents and whilst on my drive I phoned her to see what was for dinner. She didn't have much to offer for dinner as she hadn't had time to shop however she was extremely excited to have me over.

At that moment I had decided to pull in and grab something from the local kebab store for us all to eat. There was a young school aged girl who I had engaged conversation with, she was pleasant and also attentive. She asked me what I did for work and I told her what I do for a living and her immediate reaction was nothing short of a smile. The next four words that came out of her mouth changed my whole day, what were they you ask?

"YOU ARE SO LUCKY".

Where am I getting at? Well I couldn't help but feel so stupid having sulky moments and over dramatising something as silly as not getting enough sleep, or the fact that I was overly hungry. Two things I gathered from that night-

1) My grandparents not having much to offer me for dinner were still happy enough to offer me the little they had. Life to them didn't seem like a struggle and they expected nothing in exchange except for quality time.

2) After complaining about work and having to deal with customers, there was a random stranger who would have loved to trade places with me. She had been trying to get a better job for a long time and reminded me how lucky I am to have a job that I enjoy.

Often in life we over work ourselves and make small problems big. Instead of remembering the good things that have happened we nit pick on the bad events during the day. There's so much to be grateful for, our struggles are minor compared to what other people are going through- Well for me personally.

I challenge you all to wake up with three things in mind that you are grateful for. Focus on that throughout the day- by doing this you are setting a positive mindset and blocking negative thoughts.

Remember "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS NOT YOUR PROBLEMS".

xoxo- Winn
